Alex Stockwell is an American award-winning Spectrum News anchor and reporter. Alex is a native Texan who was born in San Antonio and reared in New Braunfels. Alex earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Texas in Austin.
Alex began her journalism career at an NBC affiliate station in McAllen, Texas, where several of her immigration-related articles were picked up nationally. She then returned to Central Texas to work as a multimedia journalist for Spectrum News 1 in Austin.
She has covered several big events as a reporter, including the 2018 Austin bombings, the continuing Rodney Reed case, and SXSW. Before joining Your Morning on Spectrum News 1, Alex began filling in as an anchor and anchored the weekend nighttime program. Alex and her morning show team earned a Lone Star Emmy Award for their coverage of the 2021 Texas Winter Storm.

Stockwell began her career as a sports intern at KEYE-TV in June 2011. She collaborated with a sports director and writers to produce Texas Sports Nation, a nightly sports program. She also shot stand-ups and edited packages, as well as honed her broadcast writing, editing, cinematography, and story development talents.
In September of that year, Alex began working as a studio production intern for Longhorn Network, ESPN. She aided associate producers by, among other things, urging, capturing cassettes, generating snippet movies, and shadowing out-of-studio interviews.
