Emily Cochran Biography

Emily Cochran is the newest addition to the FOX10 Sports team and she is working as the station’s Reporter and Sports Anchor. She graduated from Gautier High School, which is the home of the Gators. In short, she is a Gautier. Cochran holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Minor in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Mississippi.

In May 2022 Cochran made a decision to pursue a Masters in Journalism from Ole Miss later on. Cochran was employed by Newswatch Ole Miss as a sports anchor and correspondent while still in college. Over the years including her playbook, Put Her in Coach, and Midday Music were the shows she hosted for Rebel Radio.

She covered basketball, baseball, Ole Miss football, and soccer among others. She spent quite a number of days in the camera well, up in the press box, or on the sideline. Cochran attended the College World Series in July to cover the rebels for Hotty Toddy News and also followed the Ole Miss baseball postseason run. Hotty Toddy is one of the best experiences ever of her entire life.

Emily Cochran’s report on local softball player tacks on another pre-season honor

Cochran reported on July 25, 2023, that Ava Hodo, a freshman from Orange Beach, was selected to the MaxPreps Underclass All-American First Team. Ava Hodo, who plays softball for Orange Beach, is still well known. Hodo was one of 30 freshmen and sophomores selected for the MaxPreps national team and one of three Alabama athletes to do so.

She achieved considerable success in her first season. She accumulated 68 hits, a 435 batting average, 21 home runs, and 75 RBI. According to the MaxPreps leaderboards, Hodo had the 10th-most RBI in the USA and the 22nd-most home runs. In April, Hodo was selected as our FOX10 Athlete of the Week. He later assisted the Makos in winning their third consecutive state championship.

The outstanding player, who is getting ready for her sophomore year, was recently named Extra Innings Softball’s top prospect in the class of 2026. Additionally, Hodo was chosen for the ASWA’s First-Team All-State this spring for the second consecutive season.

She still has three years to play at Orange Beach and three state championships to help her team win before she graduates.
