Camp co-founded StumbleUpon in 2002. It was the first personalized recommendation engine and platform for web discovery. The service enabled users to discover web content with a single click during the Web 2.0 era.

In 2007, Time magazine named StumbleUpon one of the “50 Best Websites” and one of the “50 Must-Have iPad Apps” in 2013.StumbleUpon was purchased by eBay for $75 million in 2007 then spun off in 2009, re-establishing itself as an independent firm.

Following its spin-off, Camp worked to expand its products, including mobile phone app discovery and social networking. Users were transferred to Mix.com, a venture established in part by Camp’s studio startup firm, Expa, in mid-2018, after the platform maintained standalone web and mobile apps.

Camp, a frequent visitor to co-founder Kalanick’s house, became dissatisfied with San Francisco cab services and found hiring drivers with elite black car services inconvenient and costly.He eventually devised the concept of a smartphone app that would allow users to summon luxury vehicles directly from their smartphones.

He explored the idea with Kalanick, who agreed to be a “mega advisor” to the company, which was formerly known as UberCab.In early 2009, while still CEO of StumbleUpon, Camp created Uber as UberCab.
