Loyd is an executive producer and weeknight anchor at 5 p.m. on WGXA News in Macon, Georgia. He also serves as an evening anchor on ABC 16 at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Greg formerly worked as a morning and midday producer and anchor at WRBL-TV before joining WGXA News in January 2021. He worked at the station for four years and nine months, from May 2016 to January 2021.

Greg previously worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer for WFXL, a Fox 31 affiliate in Albany, Georgia. He also co-anchored a broadcast at 6:30 p.m. with Mercer Merrill Van Schoor from November 1998 until October 2000. In addition, he served as a weeknight anchor. Loyd began his journalism career as a bureau head for WALB-TV from June 1997 until May 1998.

In addition to his journalism career, Greg was an associate professor at Tallahassee Community College. He taught ENC 1102 and 1101 from August 2007 until May 2016. Previously, he served as an instructor at Waycross College between August 2005 and May 2007. Loyd was an instructor at Bainbridge College from June 2002 to July 2005 before joining Waycross College.
