Jane Hill was born on 10 June 1969 in Eastbourne, Sussex. She is an English BBC newsreader. She is one of the main BBC News presenters, and she is the main presenter on BBC News at One and BBC News at Five, as well as delivering BBC Weekend News, BBC News at Ten, and BBC News at Six on a regular basis. She occasionally anchors BBC Radio 4’s The World Tonight.

Hill worked part-time from 1986 to 1991,  for local BBC Radio in both paid and volunteer jobs. Her first work was as a junior music correspondent at a local radio station, but she knew nothing about the local indie bands. She worked as an assistant and researcher to Senate Democrats at the Democratic National Headquarters in Washington after graduating. She began working full-time for the BBC at the end of 1991.
