Hill worked part-time from 1986 to 1991, for local BBC Radio in both paid and volunteer jobs. During the Iraq war, she hosted a number of special programs on BBC One and BBC Two, and on the day US forces seized Saddam Hussein in December 2003, she was on air for nearly eight hours on both terrestrial stations, as well as BBC News and BBC World News.
