Perlstein works as an investigative reporter for WWL-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana. He joined the channel in January 2010 as a managing editor before becoming an investigative reporter. Mike has covered a wide range of stories as an investigative reporter, including court miscarriages of justice, corrupt politicians, and the exposure of government waste. He also reported on New Orleans judges’ concealed insurance purchases and exposed a traffic court judge who broke traffic regulations.
In 2013, he was named an IRE finalist for his piece about Tulane University’s insider ties. Perlstein formerly worked as an editor at newsplink.com in New Orleans. While there, he helped launch magazine-style news and website platforms. He worked at the station for two years, from 2008 to 2010.
Mike began his journalism career in January 1986 as a staff writer at the Times-Picayune in New Orleans.
