On April 6, 2022, she marked her 30th anniversary at the station. On this day, she was inducted into the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and received the Georgia Association of Broadcasters’ Best Anchor Award.
After college, she worked for television and radio stations in Macon, North Carolina’s Outer Banks, and Columbus, Georgia. Her interest in serving the community was piqued as she transmitted educational and breaking news from the field.
Tyus has televised and been present at several major events throughout her career. She carried the Savannah flame during the 1996 Olympic Flame Run across Georgia. In this role, she carried on her family’s Olympic heritage, which began with her aunt, Wyomia Tyus, a two-time 100-meter gold champion in 1964 and 1968.
