Victor Blackwell is a CNN co-host and an American television news anchor. On CNN, he co-hosts First of All with Victor Blackwell and This Morning’s weekend edition. He was born on September 25, 1981, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

Blackwell previously hosted the weekend versions of CNN Newsroom and New Day from the network’s global headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Blackwell received an Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding News Analysis: Editorial Opinion for his remark “‘Infested,’ He Says,” which was sparked by President Donald Trump’s attack on Rep.

Blackwell has reported and anchored on the ground for numerous breaking news stories, including CNN’s Emmy-nominated coverage of the simultaneous killings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, as well as the damage caused by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

He was also instrumental in the network’s coverage of the demonstrations following the deaths of George Floyd and Rayshard Brooks in 2020. Among other things, Blackwell covered Hurricanes Harvey and Irma (2017), the massacre at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando (2016), riots in his hometown of Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray (2015), and the killing of Georgia youngster Kendrick Johnson (2013).

In 2018, Blackwell commemorated the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination by organizing an exclusive interview with civil rights luminaries Ambassador Andrew Young and Reverend Jesse Jackson inside the Memphis motel where King was assassinated. This was their first visit together after King’s death.

Blackwell joined CNN in 2012 from WPBF 25 News in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he was an anchor and had six regional Emmy nominations, two Telly awards, multiple Associated Press awards, and Society of Professional Journalists distinctions. He also got the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association, as well as the UNITY Award for a special report on the disproportionate dropout rate.
