LeMaster is WLBT FOX40’s investigative reporter and co-anchor of WLBT News at 5 p.m. For more than a decade, he has broken down the news of the day and held the powerful accountable. Since beginning his career as an investigative reporter in 2016, he has disclosed misleading crime figures from the Jackson Police Department and revealed a Rankin County elected official’s inebriated behavior hours before facing a felony rape charge.
LeMaster also disclosed a state-wide prison extortion plot. He also helped shed light on the theft of finances in Hinds County, which resulted in the conviction of three people and the removal of an election commissioner from public office.
His inquiry into Jackson’s water disaster resulted in the removal of the whistleblower in the lawsuit and the demotion of the public works director, who later resigned. For a year, he looked into the possible misuse of government funds by Richland’s mayor and Pearl’s police chief in side employment with Rankin County. This resulted in their resignation from their city and county positions. It also prompted an investigation by the State Auditor’s Office.
LeMaster and his team filed four public records complaints against agencies in the last eight years, winning three of them to help ensure greater transparency for Mississippi residents. Before arriving in the Capital City, he served WTVA/WLOV in Tupelo, Mississippi for nearly a decade in various roles. After graduating from college, WTVA/WLOV hired him as a reporter, and he also anchored some of the station’s leading-rated newscasts.
Several of his stories were broadcast nationally, including the April 2011 tornado outbreak, a three-part documentary about the history of the Jackson water disaster.
