Walker Kessler started his playing career at Woodward Academy, where he excelled. His final year high school record speaks for itself, as he averaged 17.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.2 blocks per game. He also led his team to the Class 4A championship and was voted Mr. Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year and Georgia Basketball Player of the Year.
Kessler was also named a McDonald’s All-American. He was named a Consensus five-star recruit after graduating from high school and attended the University of North Carolina. He was with them for one season and had extremely good stats. However, in 2021, he transferred to Auburn University, where he earned the SEC All-Defensive Team, First Team All-SEC, NABC Defensive Player of the Year, and other honors.
The Memphis Grizzlies selected him in the first round as the 22nd overall pick in 2022. He was, however, moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, he was dealt to the Utah Jazz two weeks later, when he signed his rookie contract. On January 16, 2023, he achieved his career high of a double-double with a total of 20 points and 21 rebounds.
