Gary Wang is an American entrepreneur well known for his previous position as an executive with cryptocurrency company FTX. He built a technique for aggregating pricing across millions of flights while working at Google Flights before co-founding FTX with Sam Bankman-Fried.

He was named the 431st richest person in the world by The World’s Billionaires and the 227th richest American in the Forbes 400 prior to the bankruptcy of FTX.

FXT ranged as the second largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world and Wang had financially benefitted enormously from the company’s value. Prior to the collapse of the empire he and Sam Bankman-Fried created in November 2022, Gary Wang was a cryptocurrency billionaire.

This comes as the government conducts an investigation into FTX’s failure. A trial for Bankman-Fried, who has pleaded not guilty, was set for October  2023.
